Editor Tour
Updated over a month ago

This guide will walk you through the two key areas of VideoScripter: the Editor—where your creative ideas come to life—and the Workspace view—the central hub for managing your projects and teams. By the end of this guide, you'll be familiar with navigating the platform and ready to start creating video tutorials.

The Editor is where you’ll craft your video and audio projects. With a wide range of features, it’s helpful to break it down section by section:

  • Script Editor: This is where you write and edit your script, which replaces the traditional video timeline. Instead of manually creating a timeline, you can simply drag and drop thumbnail markers from the Thumbnail Rail into your script, and the timeline is generated automatically behind the scenes. You can also adjust video effects like zooming, add keyboard shortcuts, and edit slide contents here.

  • Video Canvas: This section provides a preview of your final video. Here, you can adjust the format, add backgrounds, padding, shadows, enhance mouse cursors, and more.

  • Editor Toolbar: This toolbar provides extra markers to enhance your video by zooming in on important sections and guiding your viewers on how to use keyboard shortcuts to access specific features in your product. Additionally, you can choose from various slide formats to include in your video.

  • Title Bar: This is your central hub for naming your project, granting access to workspace members and collaborators, and generating the final video production.

  • Thumbnail Rail*: This allows you to navigate through key scenes of your screen recording, similar to slides in a presentation. Thumbnails are automatically created when you click on items while recording with VideoScripter Recorder. You can align your video with your script by dragging and dropping these thumbnail markers into the script.

* Note that by default the Thumbnail Rail is hidden, you'll only need to use it if you prefer to type your own script as opposed to let AI transcribe your narration or generate an AI script based on your video.
