Creating Custom Sync Markers

Timing your narration to events where no click or typing event occurred

Updated this week

When you record a screen recording with the Recorder App, Sync Markers are created automatically for every click and typing event. These Sync Markers are used to keep the video and narration perfectly in sync. Learn more about Sync Markers here.

In some cases, however, you may want to time your narration to a moment in the video where no click or typing occurred. Since no interaction happened at that point, there won’t be an automatic Sync Marker available to align your narration with that moment.

Common Use Cases for Custom Sync Markers

  • Narrating a slide or screen where no clicks or typing occurred

  • Explaining static on-screen content that doesn’t require interaction

  • Adding narration for something you forgot to mention during the recording

  • Providing additional context or clarification without re-recording the video

Creating a Custom Sync Marker

To sync your narration to a moment without an existing Sync Marker:

  1. Play or scrub the video to the exact moment you want to align your narration with

  2. In the Sync Markers panel, click the + button

  3. A new custom Sync Marker will be created at the current video frame

  4. Drag the new Sync Marker into the narration script and drop it on the word you want to sync

This allows you to precisely align your narration with any moment in the recording, even when no click or typing event occurred.
