Add Taps to Mobile Recordings

How to visually highlight taps using Tutorial AI’s Tap Marker tools, so your viewers can follow along with clarity.

Updated this week

When recording screens on mobile devices, such as iOS or Android, tap gestures are not visually captured by default. Without a visible indication of where you interacted, it can be difficult for viewers to follow your actions in a tutorial or demo video.

Mobile screens can be recorded either with the device’s built-in tools and then imported via Import screen recording in the Screen Recording tab, or directly using the Mac Desktop Recorder App’s mobile recording feature.

By accurately identifying and marking your tap interactions, you enhance the instructional value of your video. We’ll also cover best practices for labeling and syncing these markers with your narration, and demonstrate how to polish your video with custom slide backgrounds and logos for a professional finish.

Highlighting Tap Interactions on Your Mobile Recording

  • To begin, open the Tap Marker tool from the video toolbar.

  • Begin playing your video.

  • Pause it at the point where an interaction (tap) occurred.

  • To precisely locate the moment of interaction, use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard. This allows you to move frame by frame for accurate placement.

  • Once you’ve found the exact frame, move the pointer to where the tap occurred on the screen.

  • Mark the tap by clicking the screen at the tap location, then assign it a name to clearly identify it in your workflow.

  • All recorded taps will now appear as Sync Markers within your project.

Generating Your Script and Syncing Tap Events

  • Once you have added and named all relevant tap markers, click Finish to proceed.

  • Tutorial AI uses the tap names you provided to auto-generate a script aligned with your actions, ensuring your video is intuitive and easy to follow.

  • If preferred, you can use existing scripts by copying them at this stage.

  • To synchronize tap events with your narration, simply drag the Sync Markers into their corresponding points in your narration editor.
